Aims
CTNS promotes the creative mutual interaction between theology and the natural sciences. The CTNS mission is carried out through three program areas: research, teaching and public service. The central scientific focus of these programs is on physics, cosmology, evolutionary biology, and genetics, with additional topics in the neurosciences, technology, the environmental sciences, and mathematics. The central theological focus is on Christian theology, ethics and spirituality, with additional attention to the theological issues arising from the engagement between the sciences and world religions.The multi-religious agenda attends primarily to theological issues arising from the engagement between the sciences and religious traditions such as Buddhism, Confucianism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, Taoism, and indigenous spiritualities.
The CTNS faculty offers courses at the doctoral and seminary levels in order to bring future clergy and faculty to a greater awareness of this important interdisciplinary work.
The Center currently operates also thanks to a generous gift by prof. Francisco Ayala, University Professor in the Sciences and Humanities at the University of California Irvin, member of the National Academy of Sciences .

Services and Resources
The website offers a rich section of "News & Events” and a short description of the major programs of the Center.
The "Publications" section offers a selection of books, journals and articles. In this section, within the "Online Resources", it is available a link to the "Interdisciplinary Encyclopedia of Religion and Science” (inters.org), realized by the Research Center for Interdisciplinary Documentation (DISF) with a partial contribution of the CTNS.
Since 2003, CTNS publishes the tri-annual peer-reviewed journal, Theology and Science (Routledge-Taylor & Francis). The CTNS Bullettin is also available for members.
The "Links" section contains a selection of websites operating in Science & Religion field. The "Research" section includes a presentation of the CTNS research activities. The most important programs are: 1. Theological and Ethical Implications of the Genome Initiative 2. The Science and Religion Course Program 3. The Science and the Spiritual Quest Program 4. STARS: Science and Transcendence Advanced Research Series.
Religious Confession
The Center is a program of the Graduate Theological Union, an ecumenical and interfaith consortium of seminaries and centers based in Berkeley, California. The website has a Christian inspiration and follows an ecumenical style.
